Suspect and victim tried to board an Amsterdam-bound flight at SFO on July 7, according to authorities
REDWOOD CITY – A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of having unlawful sex with a juvenile girl in Redwood City and later trying to leave the country with her in violation of a restraining order, police said.
On June 1, officers were called to a park for a report of two people having intercourse in public view, the Redwood City Police Department said in a statement Monday.
Police said a subsequent investigation revealed the suspect was involved in an intimate relationship with the victim.
The suspect was arrested in Menlo Park on June 15. He appeared in San Mateo County Superior Court the following day and was ordered to have no contact with the victim, police said. The suspect posted bail and was released from custody on June 19.
On July 7, the suspect and the victim tried to board an Amsterdam-bound flight at San Francisco International Airport, police said. The juvenile’s age was not given.
Police said airport security contacted the suspect and learned about the restraining order. He was arrested a second time, and as of Monday, he was being held at the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City on $5 million bail, according to jail records.
