Jenny Disappeared*

On May 21, 2026, 16-year-old Jenny* disappeared from school in Lake County, California. The next day, the family contacted Finding Kids, deeply concerned about Jenny’s vulnerability, mental health needs, and possible contact with unsafe adults.

Our investigators quickly identified a lead involving an older friend Jenny met during a prior treatment program. Information pointed to the pair possibly planning to travel by bus from Salem, Oregon to Sacramento. On May 23, a Finding Kids’ private investigator began surveillance at a Sacramento bus station. At 9:30 a.m., the friend arrived, a fact confirmed through photos shared with the family in real time.

A few tense hours later, at approximately 12:10 p.m., Jenny appeared at the station and left with the friend and another unidentified adult male. Our investigator immediately contacted the Sacramento Police Department and continued to relay real-time location updates as the group traveled toward a nearby rail station.

By 12:40 p.m., police made contact and recovered the youth without incident. From Lake County to Sacramento, Jenny’s case shows why rapid investigation, real-time coordination, and persistence matter. The case was referred to the Finding Kids Aftercare team for ongoing family and youth support.
