American Canyon man gets 4 years in prison for pimping teen girl
Defendant sent to prison this month
MARTINEZ — A 22-year-old American Canyon man was sentenced to four years in state prison as part of a deal with Contra Costa prosecutors, court records show.
Ramon Reyes-Medina pleaded no contest last January to pimping a 17-year-old girl, and in exchange for his plea human trafficking and pandering charges were dismissed, records show. He was given roughly six months worth of credit for time served, and is scheduled to be released from prison in 2024.
Reyes-Medina was arrested in April 2022 during a traffic stop, days after prosecutors filed charges against him. He allegedly eluded police before surrendering. In his car was a 17-year-old runaway teen from Nevada, police said at the time.
Reyes-Medina was transferred to North Kern State Prison in Delano on Feb. 1, where he remains. After his prison sentence, he will serve a three-year probation term, court records show.
Today, predators can reach vulnerable children through phones, social media, gaming platforms, and the internet, often before families realize something is wrong. Finding Kids responds through three core programs: Recover. Care. Target. We help locate missing and exploited children, support families during and after recovery, and work with law enforcement to identify and disrupt those who exploit youth. Our work continues after a child is found because recovery is only the beginning. By combining investigations, aftercare, and prevention, we help children return safely to their homes, schools, and communities while building a future where every vulnerable child receives help before crisis becomes exploitation. We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and 100% of your tax-deductible donation goes directly towards keeping kids safe. We cannot do this work without your support.
